About Genius Electric Power and Cabling

Five years in, we're still doing what most contractors avoid.

When we started Genius Electric Power and Cabling, it wasn't because we had some grand vision. It was because we were tired. Tired of watching commercial and residential jobs get handled by crews who treated the work like an afterthought. Tired of seeing corners cut because nobody cared enough to do it right. We had the knowledge—over 30 years of electrical construction experience between us—but we were working for people who weren't interested in precision or relationships.

So we built our own thing. A woman-owned, licensed, and insured business where electrical work meant something. The first year was rough. We learned fast that running a business is nothing like executing one. We made mistakes in scheduling, in communication, in how we priced our time. But every mistake taught us something, and every client who trusted us in those early days helped us understand what actually mattered.

What three decades taught us

Our experience isn't just a number we list. It's why we notice what others miss. We've been in crawlspaces and attics, under concrete and inside walls. We've seen what happens when electrical systems aren't designed to last. We've also seen what happens when someone takes the time to get it right the first time. That difference compounds. A properly installed system doesn't keep you up at night. It doesn't require emergency calls at 2 a.m. It works.

Being a woman-owned business meant we had to prove ourselves differently in an industry that assumed we'd cut corners to undercut prices. We didn't. We cut complexity instead. We got better at asking questions before we started work. We learned to listen to what clients were really worried about, not just what they were asking for. That kind of attention takes time. It also builds trust, and trust is what separates a business that lasts five years from one that lasts decades.

We're licensed and insured because your project deserves protection. But honestly, that's table stakes. What matters more is that we show up on time, explain what we're doing and why, and finish the job cleaner than we found it. We do this because we've seen what happens when you don't. Frustrated property owners. Cascading problems. Calls to other contractors trying to fix what was done wrong. We got into this work to solve problems, not create them.

'We started this business because we wanted to show that electrical work can be both reliable and respectful of your time and space.'

How we work

When we show up to your project, you'll notice we move deliberately. We ask questions. We explain what we see and what we recommend. We don't assume. We're honest about complexity, and we're honest about scope—if a job is bigger than it looked, we tell you before the bill surprises you. You'll also notice we clean as we go. Your space stays functional. You're not navigating around our equipment or tripping over our mess.

If you need electrical work done right—whether it's commercial construction, residential rewiring, power and cabling installation, or troubleshooting something that isn't working—we'd like to talk with you. Give us a call or reach out. We'll listen to what you need, ask the right questions, and tell you what's possible.
